Earth Advantage Platinum Certification
The Earth Advantage® Homes certification program is a third-party certification program for builders that helps them create energy efficient, healthy and resource-wise homes that add value for the homebuyer.
The Earth Advantage Homes standard requires projects to achieve a minimum number of points on a scoring sheet covering five categories over the course of two verification visits, including:
- Energy efficiency
- Environmental responsibility
- Healthy indoor air quality
- Water conservation
- Resource efficiency
Depending on the number of points earned, the projects may qualify for different levels of certification: Earth Advantage Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
Energy Star Certification
Every ENERGY STAR certified home is built with the following features:
Lower Utility Bills
By using less energy for heating, cooling, and water heating, ENERGY STAR certified homes deliver approximately 20% savings on annual utility bills. Over the 7 to 8 years that a typical family lives in a home, you can save thousands of dollars in maintenance cost.
Enhanced Performance
In ENERGY STAR certified homes, comfort is ensured with consistent temperatures between and across rooms; indoor air quality is enhanced by reducing dust, pollen, bugs, and excessive humidity; and durability is improved with comprehensive water protection, windows that block damaging sunlight, and better grade equipment.
Environmental Protection
The energy used in our homes often comes from the burning of fossil fuels at power plants. So, by using less energy to operate, ENERGY STAR certified homes help to prevent air pollution—an added benefit for today's environmentally-conscious consumer looking for "green" choices.
DISCOVERY WEST
Discovery West, situated on 245 acres on Bend’s westside, is the newest community under development by the minds behind the award-winning NorthWest Crossing neighborhood. The neighborhood will offer a variety of home types and sizes, as well as a community plaza and 40 acres of parks, trails and open land. The development team’s vision for creating livable, detail-oriented communities that respect the Central Oregon lifestyle will be apparent as the community takes shape. Construction on homes began in summer of 2020.
